Spent a few days touring the San Antonio market this week for an investment deal I’ve been working through. I’ve been doing a lot of these tours in the Sunbelt the past few months. Here’s my thoughts on the market.3
I developed a mixed use condo project across the street from this shopping center in 2013, even back then half the storefronts were shuttered. Glad to see Simi is allowing a more productive mixed use with 280 housing units, commercial space! #morehousing https://www.vcstar.com/story/news/local/communities/simi-valley/2022/03/08/simi-valley-oks-mixed-use-development-including-280-residential-units-affordable-housing-retail/9410688002/
Teeth HCD is showing this round of housing update is long overdue but refreshing. Critics say more housing is impossible. It’s a question of will, not possibility. Ask a developer if more housing is possible. Hopefully this brings attainable housing a step closer to CA’s future. https://twitter.com/dillonliam/status/1496943963160252440
NEW: L.A. must rezone to allow for 250,000 new homes by October after the state rejects the city's housing plan.
Potentially billions in affordable housing grants at stake.
Me with @DavidZahniser https://www.latimes.com/homeless-housing/story/2022-02-24/la-needs-to-rezone-for-a-lot-more-housing
This was a fun one!
Always learn something on a new market & development feasibility project. I've been working on a couple of 1k+ lot deals near San Antonio, TX. 7th largest city in the U.S. They don't cut in production lots like we do here in CA, they sheet grade, this slab sits ~4' above ground! 2
